You should hide the email addresses from robots, yet still display on page if the user has opted in for that. The spammers are collecting from the site already. (I have an inbox just for socialwhois and it's getting hit) Scramble it up with a little js or use an image instead of a clickable text link (better).

Small suggestion that would make profiles much more readable:

Don't strip out formatting and allow people to write in paragraphs. Everything all squished together into a single paragraph is very uncomfortable to read on some profiles.
